Focused and Flexible Learning For Your Child
Unique Early Learning
We love adapting our learning activities to follow children’s interests, which is why we love learning from you - the parents. We really take the time to know your family, and discover the best way to engage your child in learning. It’s more than just childcare - our educational program is based on the Early Years Learning Framework, but we always like to add a personal touch.

We know that all children learn at different speeds. We also understand that children’s imaginations can be captured by so many different things. That’s why we embrace every child’s uniqueness, while guiding them towards their first day of school and the rest of their lives.

School Readiness Education That Works

We provide a lot more than daycare - we want to really kick-start children’s journey of learning. At SPK Early Learning Centre, we have several curriculums for key learning areas, and all of our daily activities aim to give children the skills and confidence for their transition to school.
  • Understanding and regulating emotions.
  • Dealing with stress and conflict
  • Being understanding and patient
  • Decision making
  • Looking after property
  • Building a love of learning
  • Focusing on tasks
  • Concentration
  • Switching between tasks when required
  • Being able to cope with challenges
  • Adapting to new environments
  • Understanding rules and following directions
  • Self care skills, i.e. health, hygiene, emotional security
  • Motor Skills
  • Mathematics
  • Science and the Environment
  • Music
  • Language
  • Communicating their own needs
  • Making friends and joining in
  • Waiting for their turn
  • Enjoying group activities
  • Sharing
  • Constantly developing language skills
  • Being able to share ideas
  • Respect for others

Children should feel comfortable to learn at their own pace. While we introduce the idea of structured learning and routine, we never want children to feel pressured. This is why we offer flexibility in our learning activities, to ensure children feel supported and nobody gets left behind.
Early Years Learning Framework
The Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) is like a school curriculum, but tailored for early childhood learning. There are 5 main goals incorporated in the EYLF:
  • Children have a strong sense of identity.
  • Children are connected with and contribute to their world.
  • Children have a strong sense of wellbeing.
  • Children are confident and involved learners.
  • Children are effective communicators.
We base our learning activities on these core goals, which ensures your child is developing all of the skills necessary to transition to school. Childhood should be a special, fun time of life . That’s exactly why we’ve created our unique, open plan environment with wonderful areas for shared play and exploring. No opportunities will be closed to any child, and at St Phillips, they have a place they know they belong. Our nurturing centre gives children the confidence to grow, play and learn!
Structured Learning Environment

Learning Through Structure and Play

Play is so important to a child’s development, particularly in a childcare setting. Through play, children learn to communicate, share, express thoughts and ideas, and develop key social skills.

Our more structured learning activities take place in our two groups, being pre-preschoolers and pre-schoolers. This ensures activities are age appropriate, and parents tell us that they love our more structured approach.

There’s also plenty of multi-age activities where the groups come together, and play time is enjoyed in our shared areas where children love interacting. It’s great seeing our kids learning and adapting to the world around them, even when it seems like they’re just playing.

Social and Emotional Responsibility

Whether you visit SPK Early Learning Centre in O’Connor, you’ll notice one really important thing. It’s like a small family, where all children are included, respectful, respected. We love helping our children enjoy each other’s company and make new friends while at daycare.

From basic self-care skills like hygiene, looking after property and developing emotional security through to skills in sharing, regulating emotions and dealing with conflict, we guide children to build the interpersonal and social skills need for an easier transition to school.
